I wanna redesign the entire website to improve the forum. Here are the problems I know of:
- The forum sucks, the software needs to be improved
- Multiman has consumed forum activity
- Notifications aren't unified, they're separated between Multiman and the forum
- The website isn't intuitive, intros and poor navigation makes it hard to find stuff
- The site lacks a stated identity
Obviously, the forum needs to be redone. You need to be able to subscribe to threads, and posting in a thread should subscribe you to it. You should also be able to upload media to posts.
I also want posts to be realtime. Not realtime typing or any kind of gimmick, but just posts appearing without having to reload. Everything in the site should be realtime and synced up so that activity on the forum has less friction.
One interesting idea I had was allowing a thread OP to set bookmarks or points of interest in a thread that becomes a navigation for it. It would be like YouTube's timestamps, it would remove the need to create new threads for ongoing topics and instead make it easy to navigate major events in a thread. I'd also like to allow thread OPs to set other users to be able to set bookmarks and delete posts.
Multiman should be reduced to a small number of fixed chats that are always visible in a widget. You should be able to fullscreen it and use it like you do now, but it will always be there and only have a small number of public chats. You should be able to make group chats, but you'll have to invite people explicitly and can't have public links to them. This will reduce the number of chats getting out of control and replacing things that should be forum threads. For example, the Krazy Internet Videos and Soulseek chats should just be threads.
You should also be able to private message members in the same interface as group chats as well.
Notifications must be unified. You should get notifications for subscribed threads, news, chat mentions, etc all in one place. As with everything else, it should be realtime. It should also bridge over to the IRC compatibility layer, and support browser OS notifications. Maybe some other adapters as well, like email or Telegram.
We should remove the intro on the homepage. It's cool, but it adds tons of friction and makes things confusing. We can compensate by having other cool standalone pages that you can go to on the website. The website also must be easy to navigate. The homepage should either be the forum with the chat widget and everything visible, or a page that says what the website is with a big button/link to the forum dashboard on it.
The site lacks a clear identity, which makes it very hard to invite people. We need an About page and a Rules page. I also propose that the site be renamed from 3DTestosterone to 3DT and either figuring out a new acronym meaning, or just make it an acronym with no meaning. It's hard to share the site with people when it sounds like a steroid forum. The 3dt.net domain will be the new main domain, and 3dtestosterone.net will just redirect to it.

This updated will be great, waiting for it. Maybe I imagined it but someone in the main chat talked about it being similar to Twitter style? and critized, uhh I don't see it bad at all, but with a twist. Well, that's just my opinion

Nothing like Twitter, really. I had some ideas about merging forums and chat together, but after talking with a few people here about it in Mumble, it seemed like a bad solution to the problems I'm trying to solve.
My idea is gonna be a lot more traditional but with a nice, unified UI for everything, and putting emphasis back on the forum.

I'd like thread page numbers to always be consistent, so deleted posts should show a tombstone/placeholder so that the number of posts in the posts page stays the same.

I often find that my messages hit the character limit very quickly, and so I'm forced to Cut & Paste what I couldn't post onto a new message. This process is annoying.
I'm more used to writing on Whatsapp, where messages can be made page-long. To avoid clutter, the message is shown collapsed until the option to "... Read More" is selected, displaying the rest of the message. I would appreciate if such a feature was added.
All other suggestions seem like reasonable improvements to me -- specially the part about being able to post things like images and audios.

Is this an argument against focusing on the forum more, or is there more nuance here? The chat won't be going away or losing its message retention limit, but focus will be given to the forum.
If you're worried about people screenshotting things you say, then don't say things that are controversial or contain banned words in a public setting. If you're worried about it in the future, you'd be able to delete your posts. Personally, I think the benefit of having a public and indexed forum far outweighs the risks.

The current message length limit mirrors that of IRC, but it's too short, I agree. I can raise it in the site redesign.

Also “it’s your responsibility to “ you’re asking people to anticipate, which they can’t half of the time, what will be construed and used to cause harm. Innocent recorded text gets used all the time as an attack vector.

100% there needs to be a calendar/something to organize every game night. Nobody remembers what games they wanted to play by the time the night rolls around, nobody has it installed, and then they spend 20 minutes trying to fiddle with the chmod permissions to make it work. Then everyone goes back to playing the same game.

Nobody remembers what games they wanted to play by the time the night rolls around, nobody has it installed, and then they spend 20 minutes trying to fiddle with the chmod permissions to make it work. Then everyone goes back to playing the same game.
We have a calendar feature that was never properly finished or integrated. That should definitely be a priority.

A few ideas
- animated homepage with cool background, low volume music (mutable), big 3D icons for important site features and nothing else (ABOUT, FORUM, MULTIMAN, NEWS, CONTROL PANEL)
- Control panel contains all user settings and log out, overhaul the pfp system but keep the old pfps for legacy users, make a new way to customize your pfp by NOT letting you import custom pictures BUT letting you customize a DUDE to have as your pfp as that would be sick (follow a "rule of cool" but match with an ease of usability)
- Combine the forum with multiman, maybe have it be able to open inside the forum and embed forum posts in the chat
- I like the new ideas for multiman, the fixed chats should be very small and pinned and everyone should always have access to them, no inviting to Zone Xtract and no leaving it's basically like a general chat, being able to private message should open up it's own window like other popular chat systems

- I do kind of agree with shortening the site name to just 3DT but I don't think we should erase it's meaning entirely, I think the original name should stay in some form at least. If people assume it's a steroid forum then go ahead, I see it more as a message for the male spirit but that's just me
