Greetings kommandos. I figure this might be an interesting place to ask about this type of stuff- I'm sure some of you here have a real reality-breaking, earth shattering experience that left you questioning reality for some time after the fact. Myself personally, I am a Christian. Before my conversion, in my years in this realm I have dabbled in a few things here and there. Psychedelics, the occult, etc. In my younger years I'd been prone to epilepsy and had some strange experiences through dreams- one that really sticks out is a dream where I had an encounter with "Azazel". I had absolutely no knowledge of anything remotely related to demonology or the Abrahamic traditions, I was only about 11 years old at the time. Really, my introduction to those things occurred through psychedelic use, and searching for deeper meaning in the things I witnessed under the influence. I wound up finding that a lot of what I'd witnessed in my dozens and dozens of DMT trips aligned up with a lot of mythological and occult stories- but ultimately came tied together through the Book of Enoch. Under the influence of DMT and LSD I've had multiple out of body experiences and entity encounters. Egyptian/Babylonian gods, otherworldly grand temples, what I could only describe as portals that I wasn't allowed to reach just yet. Places I couldn't describe in mere words, but are permanently etched into my mind. A giant trestle board, where druidic cloaked figures arranged pieces. Megastructures with gemstones producing colors unknown. Things that are inherently occult in nature, and seen in ancient cultures, as well as more modern Masonic artwork. My substance use came to a halt when I had an experience that I could only really describe as a God encounter and started studying the Bible and other ancient non-canonical texts, and the church fathers. I came to the belief that we can access the other realms, levels of heaven or hell, depending on the state of the soul, via inducing altered states. I also believe that humans are just meant to be living in the "here and now" as opposed to chasing these things. That these things are precisely the sorcery and divination that scripture warns us against. Am I just a fried out schizo? What do you guys believe? What have you felt, touched, tasted and seen via separating the body from the mind?

First, my simple answer: Yes. But I don't blame you for believing there's a deeper meaning to the visions you see when your brain is being short-circuited. I've never used psychedelics at all, but I've known a fair number of people who have. A lot of the value in it touted comes from realizations that drove the user to action. That's not a bad thing, but I see it as gambling: you can't know if your trip will be beneficial, harmful or benign. You should know that anything you see in a trip comes from inside your mind, not outside. Trips mess with your mind in ways that let you see things in a new way, but you cannot gain new information. I'd also imagine that a lot of it is nonsense, kind of like dreams. With that in mind, it stands to reason that any positive effect you can get from a psychedelic trip can be achieved without its help, since it's all in your mind already. burntbizkitgamez said

If you have knowledge or interest in the occult, then you're gonna see the occult. I think occult thinking is psychologically harmful though. --- My overall recommendation is that people should not take psychedelics. Besides, the neurological damage that can occur is still a risk outside of the possible benefits or negatives from what people see and think in trips.

Post 7897 I guess I didn't really clarify enough- I never really had an interest in any form of spirituality until I dabbled into such things. It just "came with the territory" I guess. I also would agree that occult thinking isn't healthy, and a pointless endeavor. Also think psychedelics are inherently no bueno, and given my current worldview, I think the rise in popularity is a sign of the times. It's no wonder we have a bunch of delusional troons walking around. Shit is inherently satanic and deceptive lol. Yet, the "counter culture" will always push these things as being beneficial and liberating to those suggestive enough to partake, as I once was. The freedom I was searching for was only found in God, and in myself. I still can't help but wonder though.

There's some inherent value to spiritualism if it serves you, but only if that's the case. Seems like finding God did that for you. My favorite way to sum up my thoughts on psychedelics is this: "You saw God? And you went to work the next morning?"

It's not really spiritual, but I have some anecdotes or weird stuff so I will go from less credible (although I remember them vividly) to more. When I was 6 or 7 years old, we had a trip in the school every year in may/june were we went to a place to celebrate some stuff (maybe the Saint of the school if I'm not mistaken) Well here I have two strange experiences. To put you in context the place is a complex with picnic areas, soccer fields, playgrounds and a bar. Near the picnic area there was some abandoned building used for changing rooms and showers for the football players. I remember seeing through the window a man with the head upside down, black hair brown clothes. No one really believed me, I myself doubt that I really saw it. But what happened at the same place, the year before or the year after, my friends still remember being there, so it happened. In a parallel building to the left of the abandoned locker rooms, me and my friends entered as the door was open, this place was not abandoned. It was a hallway with several side doors, we walked to the back and entered, it was a kind of apartment with a couch, a TV and decoration typical of the 80s/70s. One friend was sitting on the couch and the rest of us were standing, something happened, I couldn't say what. I remember some lights, the TV turning on, flickering and a growing sound, whether it was voices or things, but it was so loud and so many things were shaking that we left. Sorry for being so ambiguous, but that's all I remember. Finally, two summers ago at the birthday party of two of my friends, it was already dark and my best friend and I were lying in the grass talking about life. It was cloudy. Suddenly we noticed a light coming from the clouds, quite large. It was not a drone, a helicopter, a plane or a meteorological phenomenon. It was a considerably large light, sometimes less dim, sometimes more, and after standing there for a while, it simply "turned off". After half an hour it came back, everyone else saw it, and again, it went out. No movement, nothing, just appearing and disappearing. As a bonus, I would like to mention a recurring dream I have which is that, once the events of my dream are over, I wake up in my room and then see the “something” from the dream come through the door and run at me. That's when I really wake up. This has happened on several occasions and It always scare me, it has no sense.
