all sonic is bad, all mario is bad, every one of the quirky protagonist games with or without platforming, crash bandicoot, banjo kazooie, every one of them, every game from the first to the most recent. i, kaneqhomme have spoken

Videogames are generally a waste of time, and more than a few hours of solo videogame playtime during a week as an adult is childish. This applies equally to women.

That's a very easy statement to say when your time can be converted to more money than most. In regards to single player, if we take this statement on face value you might as well be equating time spent in Deus Ex 1 or playing chess puzzles as the same as a Ubisoft tower climber for human mice. Then we can go further and eventually say the time building physical Rasp Pi gadgets for fun is also equal in zero value as a Ubisoft tower climber.
"Childish" also just means "doing what you want and able to physically do". The more you want that you psychologically disallow yourself to do, for any other reason than love for others, the more miserable you get.
So now you have to make a value judgment for specific titles.
BTW Valve was only good for making their games modular.

There really is not a lot of devs doing anything interesting with video games.
Even Indies devs just make carbon copies of what already existed over a decade or two ago"
Also, why can't anything just be " cool " anymore.

Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake Series, Jedi Academy, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and Sauerbraten are the only respectable games to play in the modern age.

Honored friends,
Am I allowed to say that I miss the new Deus Ex games? The old one really stinks to play, and sure: it has some charm, but man-oh-man did I enjoy Mankind Divided.
I hope I find some kinship in this.

I remember there being a conversation, maybe in Mumble, but I think at least a few people here will disagree with your take. That said, I personally never finished the original Deus Ex and never played the newer ones. If I had time to sit down and finish the original, I would.

More power to you. I gave up once I got to Hong Kong. I don't absolutely hate the game, I just find more enjoyment in the newer ones. I'd really recommend Mankind Divided over Human Revolution.

I have replayed Saints Row 2 multiple times and I can't say the same for GTA. I know for a fact that GTA missions railroad you into linear situations, while SR2 still maintains openness in the missions. There's more leverage and tools you can use in SR2 to accomplish tasks.

99% of nostalgia for it is the novelty of being in a city and the music selection, people are manipulated by music.
