the obsessiveness with which the desire to escape the body is asserted in posthuman popular culture betrays the extent to which the materiality of the body still haunts the ideality of digital information.

IS THERE ANYONE WHO MOUTHS OFF ABOUT CYBERNETICS. WHO CAN EVEN BENCH THEIR OWN BODYWEIGHT. THESE PEOPLE KNOW NOTHING

I think you know the answer to that
never understood some people's preoccupation with escaping their flesh...it's much better to make amends with it and enjoy it than to constantly hold it in contempt and let it waste and decay...to extend and modify abilities in good faith and love is always welcome, but to alter it in fear and avoidance only brings grief...I am strange flesh, yet I cherish this body and maintain it with love. If your flesh feels like a prison, you are at odds with the divine gift of mortality. You must make amends to feel loved instead of tortured.

desire for ego-death has primarily occult origins
a form of love-for-the-flesh that is disguised by it being paradoxical
this is a common characteristic of occult ideas - make the thing contradict itself to seem enigmatic/mysterious/alluring, like the fruit in the garden
the ouroboros - on the surface it's cloaked in mystery and enigma but in reality it is just a retarded animal eating itself until it dies
"the sole God of our heart must be the Lord-God, and to Him only must we cleave. For attachment to material things, or to flesh, is a lie, an enticement of Satan and the will of the Devil. Amen." - St John of Kronstadt
