I used to be a decent runner: 14 avg on the beep test, a top sprinter among my peers, decent cross country runner. Now, for 5 or so years, I feel unwell (???) every time I run - serious chest pain, and each of the 3 occasions I've tried to pick running back up in 2022 I have developed some serious chest infection or otherwise gotten sick, and been out of training for 1-2 weeks. For context: I'm asthmatic.
I still do rope skipping as a warmup before lifting, occasionally do mountain biking, regularly do boxing and self defense training, all of which vary in cardio intensity, but I feel awful when I run. Short sprints don't seem to put me out of commission.
Aside from slowly upping my cardio in other exercises is there some way to eat or order of doing exercises that can help massage me back into running?
thank u
